Gillian and David Still Want To Believe

The X Files: I Want To Believe premiered in London's Leicester Square last night, with the lovely and rather pregnant Gillian Anderson saying it was a bigger turnout than the LA premiere. She also said that they were on board for another movie if this one does well, and said this film is more of a "particular creepy story", which also develops Mulder and Scully's relationship rather than an all-out special effects blockbuster like the movie that's overshadowing everything at the moment: The Dark Knight.

Other stars in attendance included Tom Fletcher and Harry Judd from McFly who are still looking a little tanned after our jaunt to T4 On The Beach, Sam and Amanda Marchant, Chanelle Hayes and a very demure looking Mary Elizabeth Winstead who I have an exclusive interview with for you later on today! Gwen Stefani is continuing to bloom during her pregnancy and, not content with having just one in the oven, she decided to don multiple buns on her head as well — do you love the look or hate it? We're getting used to seeing Gwen out and about in London in flattering black, but for her walk with Kingston yesterday she swapped out her loose fitting clothes for a skin tight dress — she is one hot Mama! Unlike last week there was no Gavin on this latest trip to the park, but I'm sure the expectant father is never far from his wife's side as she enters the last stages of her pregnancy.

Pete And Ashlee Confirm Pregnancy

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have finally confirmed that they are expecting their first child, following weeks of rumours and question-avoidance. The couple have posted this official statement on Pete's site, Friends Or Enemies:

"While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child. This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family."

All those rumours have made it seem like we've known for so long now, but I completely respect their decision not to announce it until after the first trimester. In fact I'm pretty excited there's a brand new celebrity baby on the way – Congrats to Pete and Ashlee!

Billie Piper has been busy this week filming scenes for the second series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl in North London. As the actress is reportedly pregnant she will apparently use a body double for some of the more raunchy scenes and has already signed up for the third series, which will start filming early next year. Pregnancy certainly isn't slowing Billie down — she is also set to return to Doctor Who for three episodes. That will no doubt please a lot of viewers, as her character Rose has been voted most loved TV character in a survey released yesterday. The survey also found that one in three Britons had romantically fallen in love with a TV character. I think I can put myself in that category, what with my Pacey Witter infatuation...

Lovely Louise Redknapp is obviously tickled pink to be pregnant with her second child, keeping her hand on her bump as she walked her dogs last week. While it took Louise and Jamie four years to conceive Charley because of Louise's endometriosis, the couple discovered they were expecting baby number two after just four weeks. As well as laid-back dog walks, Louise has enjoyed red carpet events since she announced her pregnancy, including the Sex and the City world premiere and the VIP screening of the new Indiana Jones film. Add all this excitement to the announcement earlier this month that your favourite Celebrity Apprentice is also the nation's favourite WAG and I'd have to say it's been a pretty great May for Louise!

Angelina and Brad were away from the myriad of promotional duties tied up with the film festival, and took the family out shopping for children's clothes. It must take quite a lot of planning to get out and away from the estate they're staying in whilst they're in France, especially with Angelina so pregnant with twins.

It looks like Shiloh's getting ready for the newest arrivals to the family, carrying round that baby doll with care – she gets bigger and even more gorgeous every time I see her – what a little heartbreaker!

Day two of the Cannes Film Festival was just as entertaining as the first, again thanks to Jack Black who was joined by a comedic partner in Dustin Hoffman – who decided to play paparazzi for a minute – and Angelina Jolie playing it straight. Brad Pitt supported his baby-mama at the gala premiere of Kung Fu Panda and walked the red carpet alongside gorgeous ladies Lucy Liu, Rachel Leigh Cook, Eva Longoria and Natalie Imbruglia.

After a quick change, Natalie also showed up to the party for Simon Pegg's new movie How To Lose Friends And Alienate People where she partied with Simon, his co-star Gillian Anderson and guests including a tanned Lily Allen, Mischa Barton and Jenni Falconer. There is so something in the LA water. Us Weekly claims to have confirmed that Ashlee Simpson is pregnant with her first child. She and Pete announced their engagement last week on his website, at which time the magazine started the baby talk, but their reps have yet to comment on the pregnancy rumor. So take this all with the appropriately large grain of salt until his or her people have something to say — but . . . if so, congratulations to the happy couple? Methinks I see a shotgun wedding in the near future.

Update: Pete has denied that Ashlee is pregnant saying, "There is a witch hunt for people to be pregnant whenever they get engaged in Hollywood. This is all news to me. I can't wait for the story about how I'm really in a gay relationship and this is all just a cover. ... I mean really, this is crazy. ... I mean we're engaged, that's true, and happy about it."

A cheerful Elijah Wood arrived at the Radio One studios in London yesterday to guest on Edith Bowman's afternoon show. He signed autographs and rocked a rather nice man bag while Edith beamed with her growing baby bump and Heidi hairdo during her lunch break. I really like her laid-back maternity gear — she must have seen Fab UK's trend alert about oh-so-cute cat print t-shirts last month. Baby is due in June and the DJ already knows she will have caesarean, as she has a life-threatening heart condition. Let's hope she continues to blossom over the next couple of months.

Minnie's Rich With Pregnancy Joy

Having finally confirmed her pregnancy, Minnie Driver is now happy to show off her bump and was full of smiles as she posed with co-star Eddie Izzard at the Hollywood screening of Season 2 of The Riches, which airs in America tomorrow. Virgin 1 showed the first season here in the UK, but as usual we're lagging behind our friends in the States when it comes to TV shows — although not when it comes to a certain eagerly-anticipated film! (I'm sorry, I promise I'll stop bragging about that ... soon.) Although we now know for sure that Minnie's bump isn't just down to some serious cupcake goodness, it doesn't sound like she's worried about those pregnancy pounds she's going to gain. Speaking to People at yesterday's screening, she said: "I'm just going to have the summer to be fat and happy". Sounds like a good plan to me.
