
After the awards were given out at the
Q Awards ceremony yesterday, a bunch of the attending stars headed to a Mayfair pub to drink and celebrate. Tom Jones and Cerys Matthews left hand in hand at the end of the evening, while Alexa Chung and Alex Turner hopped in a cab to make their journey home. Kelly Jones brought his pint of Guinness outside to toast the photographers with a massive grin across his face, and the Ting Tings and Sugababes' Amelle Berrabah also popped outside to pose.

The Grosvenor House Hotel in London played host to the 2008 Q Awards yesterday,
presented by Alan Carr and attracting an eclectic mix of acts from the music industry. Coldplay were the big winners, and picked up awards for Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends as Best Album and also Best Act In The World Today. Duffy won Best Breakthrough Act at the ceremony, but picked up her award via video link.

Alex Turner and Miles Kane (aka The Last Shadow Puppets) missed out on the
Mercury Music Prize last night, but Alex's girlfriend Alexa Chung was there to cheer them up afterwards. She accompanied the boys to Bungalow 8, and they all left the club grinning happily at the end of the evening. Alex will be making his spoken word debut when
he releases a recording of a short story that he has written — "The Choice Of Three" — on October 13.
Elbow have
won the Mercury Music Prize for best album of the last twelve months. The group won the £20,000 prize last night for their fourth album, The Seldom Seen Kid. They beat Estelle, Adele, Radiohead,
Laura Marling, bookies' favourite
Burial, The Last Shadow Puppets and
Rachel Unthank and the Winterset to the prestigious prize.
