Miramax has made the brave decision of releasing a film version of Brideshead Revisited which takes a fair few liberties with Evelyn Waugh's novel. If you've read it (which I did for September's
PopUK Book Club) you may find the alterations distracting, but view the film as a separate entity and you can marvel at the acting and cinematography.
It tells the story of Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode) and his involvement with the aristocratic Flytes, from his Oxford days with Sebastian (Ben Whishaw) to his relationship with Julia (Hayley Atwell).

The new
Miramax film version of Brideshead Revisited, based on Evelyn Waugh's novel (which we read for September's
PopUK Book Club), is released in the UK today.
It centres on Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode) and his infatuation with the aristocratic Catholic Flyte family, headed by Lady Marchmain (Emma Thompson) and Lord Marchmain (Michael Gambon).
Dramas unfold from Charles's intense relationships with siblings Sebastian (Ben Whishaw, who appears in our
October Must Haves) and Julia (
The Duchess' Hayley Atwell).

The cast of
Brideshead Revisited were joined by a dapper Will Young for the film's UK premiere in Chelsea yesterday. Matthew Goode and Felicity Jones kept it simple and smart, while Ben Whishaw accessorised with a teddy, no doubt to represent his character Sebastian's bear Aloysius. Love it!

Keira Knightley's latest period offering,
The Duchess, is finally released at cinemas across the UK today. We've seen the stars at
the world premiere and attending
radio interviews, and now it's time to see if the film lives up to all the hype. Although the poster carries the famous Diana quote — "there were three people in her marriage" — the film has nothing to do with her (
as the cast and director told me when I met them recently) so that aspect of
the trailer is for marketing and doesn't reflect the content of the film.

Keira Knightley has been working her socks off over the past few weeks promoting her latest movie
The Duchess. If you've missed the interviews over at Pop UK then make sure you jump over there to see what the cast had to say about
sex in the movie, and the
Princess Diana connection.
But what we're really interested in is the costume! We already provided you with a
brief insight and a few sketches but here is what Keira Knightley and Hayley Atwell had to say on the amazing costumes designed by Michael O'Connor.

When I met the stars of
The Duchess, Keira Knightley, Dominic Cooper and Hayley Atwell were happy to spill about
the sex scenes in the film. Another hot topic was the Diana connection. Keira's character, Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire, is an ancestor of Princess Diana and there are parallels between the women's complicated marriages.

Recently I had the amazing opportunity to meet the stars of
The Duchess and hear all about the role sex plays in the movie, from the practicalities of filming sex scenes to the sexual politics of the period. Here's an excerpt of the Q+A with Keira Knightley (who plays the eponymous Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire), Dominic Cooper (who plays her extra-marital love interest, Earl Grey) and Hayley Atwell (who plays the third person in Georgiana's marriage, Bess Foster). Come back to PopSugar UK later in the week to see what else the gang had to say about the film, including
the Diana connection.

Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes, Hayley Atwell and Dominic Cooper star in
The Duchess, a new movie based on the biography Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire by Amanda Foreman.
Set at the end of the 18th Century, it tells the dramatic story of Georgiana's life, focusing on her incredibly unhappy marriage to the Duke, her trials dealing with his live-in lover Bess, the attraction she feels for the future PM, and her popularity with the people.
The film's out on September 5, and I want to know what you think.

Weight/body issues and Hollywood unfortunately seem to go hand in hand. I heard that two time Oscar winning actor
Emma Thompson threw some of her star weight around (pun intended) with producers at Miramax, where she is working on an upcoming version of Brideshead Revisited. It seems that Miramax was demanding her costar,
Hayley Atwell, drop a few pounds.
