As
I told you earlier, Britney Spears won three awards last night, sweeping the board at the
2008 MTV Video Music Awards. After her
cringeworthy comeback performance last year, it felt like this year she'd finally got it all together — she looked stunning in her mini-dress as she opened the show with a skit featuring Jonah Hill (UK readers, you can watch it all unfold on MTV tonight from 8pm). Rihanna, T.I, Christina Aguilera and the Jonas Brothers also put on some memorable performances, with Pink's spectacle of a performance standing out as a particular highlight.

LA was host to the
2008 MTV Video Music Awards last night, and nominees, presenters and performers flocked to the red carpet for the show. Black seemed to be the order of the day as Christina Aguilera, Ashlee Simpson, Miley Cyrus and Heidi Montag showed up in gothic tones, meanwhile Heidi's
The Hills arch-enemy Lauren Conrad showed up in a gorgeous short white dress. Pink wore a striking red and black striped number, while Katy Perry turned up in...

America has already
let the kids choose this year, so it was time for the teens to have their say at the Teen Choice Awards 2008 last night in LA. The usual pretty and adored-by-kids suspects were there last night - The Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, Miranda Cosgrove, Demi Lovato, Drake Bell, Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron and the show's host Miley Cyrus, as well as some big names to all ages like Will Smith, Scarlett Johansson, Josh Holloway, Blake Lively, Rachel Bilson and Steve Carell.
Us Brits were represented by David Beckham, who brought Victoria, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz to watch him win a surfboard for Choice Male Athlete; Keira Knightley, who wasn't actually there but won Choice Drama Movie Actress; and Ed Westwick, whose Choice TV Villain surfboard proved that even when we're putting on US accents, Americans think that Brits are best at being villains!

Last night I went to see a press screening of
Superhero Movie, from the stable of Airplane!, The Naked Gun and the Scary Movie series.
I didn't have high hopes for this film, as spoof movies have been getting progressively worse over the past few years (Meet The Spartans anyone?), but I was actually pleasantly surprised.
It doesn't start well – in fact the first fifteen minutes are filled with bad jokes – but as I was watching I remembered that the film is certified 12A – and I think younger teens will get a good few kicks out of those minutes.

I have to say I'm pretty wary of any film with "movie" at the end of it, and so I am approaching the idea of
Superhero Movie (out June 6 in the UK) with trepidation.
This one is from David Zucker and features Leslie Nielsen in a large role which gave me hopes it might hark back to The Naked Gun golden days... it also seems to be playing to a younger audience than the "Scary" movies – it has a 12A certificate in the UK and stars
Drake Bell who's best known from Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh (alongside
The Wackness's Josh Peck) as well as his
enjoyably McFly-esque albums.

Yesterday, the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards hit Los Angeles, for all those young and young at heart.
Despite the rumours, Britney Spears didn't show – but that certainly didn't stop the fun!
Orlando Bloom, host Jack Black and
Harrison Ford had Nick's trademark gunge poured all over them,
Miley Cyrus performed to the delight of the tween audience and many TV, movie and music stars showed, including Will Smith, Cameron Diaz, Rihanna, Usher, Ashton Kutcher and Janet Jackson.
